Senate Leaders Scold USDA Over SRA Draft, Support Expanded Coverage
Sixteen U.S. senators, including the Agriculture Committee’s top Democrat and Republican, sent the USDA a letter on Friday scolding it for proposing $6 billion in cuts to crop insurance. Read the full text of the letter here. Read the CIPA press release here.

CIPA Letter Regarding 3rd SRA Draft
The Crop Insurance Professionals Association sent a letter to Secretary Vilsack on Wednesday, June 16, expressing grave concern over the third draft of the Standard Reinsurance Agreement (SRA) released by USDA last week. CIPA requested that the Administration address these concerns in a fourth draft.

The Crop Insurance Professionals Association (CIPA) submits additional comments to Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack, addressing a proposed “soft cap” on agent commissions contained in RMA’s February 23 draft SRA. The Standard Reinsurance Agreement (SRA) establishes the terms for both the USDA and insurance companies that participate in the Federal crop insurance program. The 2008 Farm Bill authorized USDA's Risk Management Agency, which manages Federal Crop Insurance, to renegotiate the agreement.
